And yet, that\u2019s how advertisers have historically been forced to target and reach Hispanic consumers on mobile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.majority.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Multicultural-Smart-Segments-The-Mobile-Majority.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-10785\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majority.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/multicultural-targeting-cover-216x300.png\" alt=\"multicultural-targeting-cover\" width=\"216\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Mobile Majority \u2013 an advertising technology company based in Santa Monica, California \u2013\u00a0has developed a new data model to better reach Hispanic consumers on smartphones and tablets, regardless of the language they choose to consume their content.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today, the company\u00a0announced its newest audience targeting product,\u00a0<em>Multicultural Smart Segments<\/em>.(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.majority.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Multicultural-Smart-Segments-The-Mobile-Majority.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">PDF<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Launching first with its <em>Hispanic Smart Segment<\/em>, The Mobile Majority can now offer advertisers <strong>up to 10 times more mobile inventory<\/strong> for specific demographic audiences than is currently available through standard RTB opportunities.<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_bg_layout_light\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><a class=\"et_pb_promo_button et_pb_button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.majority.co\/learn\/\" target=\"_blank\">Request a Demo<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>The Hispanic Mobile Opportunity<\/h4>\n<p>Currently, there is a large disconnect between Hispanic mobile usage and the amount brands are spending to reach them through mobile advertising.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Hispanic market is not only engaged, but also large \u2013 and still growing. By 2050, Hispanics are expected to make up 30% of the U.S. population. Today, they already represent $1.5 trillion in buying power. Hispanics living in the United States are also highly connected to their mobile devices.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Mobile data usage is 16% higher among Hispanics compared with the national average<\/li>\n<li>49% of Latino respondents said they planned to replace or upgrade smartphones within the next six months<\/li>\n<li>10 million Hispanics watch video on their mobile phones for an average of more than six hours per month<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMobile phones provide the main link for Latinos going online, with 76 percent using their phones to access online content. According to Google, 65 percent of Latinos use their smartphones exclusively to go online,\u201d added <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adsmovil.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Adsmovil<\/a> CEO, Alberto Pardo.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even still, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahaa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">the AHAA<\/a> reports that \u201cthe top 500 U.S. marketers are allocating about 8.4 percent of their overall ad spend to Hispanic dedicated efforts.\u201d Though this number has risen from 5.5 percent in 2010, it is approximately half of what it should be proportional to the number of Hispanics living in the U.S. today.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reaching Audiences via \u201cDevice.Language\u201d<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Until now, advertisers have relied on a mobile device\u2019s language to be set to \u201ces\u201d (or Espa\u00f1ol) to determine if they should serve a Spanish language ad to that specific consumer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Currently 3% of all bid requests that come through real-time bidding (or RTB) environments have this setting enabled. To put this into perspective, Hispanics and Latinos make up 17% of the U.S. population \u2013 a number that is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The reason is likely due to the fact that in many Spanish speakers\u2019 lives, English is also prevalent\u00a0\u2013 both linguistically and culturally. <strong>Online, 73% of Hispanics consume media \u201conly in English\u201d or \u201cmostly in English, but some Spanish.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10782\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majority.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/hispanic-language-preferences.png\" alt=\"Hispanic Language Preferences\" width=\"798\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Targeting Hispanic consumers solely by the language setting on their phone is a gross over-simplification of what is a burgeoning mobile market. <a class=\"tweetable\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?text=Language%20alone%20does%20not%20define%20a%20culture.%20Advertisers%20can%20now%20reach%20more%20Hispanics%20via%20%23mobile%20ads.&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2F1K8wg7P&amp;via=Mobile_Majority\"><span data-tweetable=\"Language alone does not define a culture. Through this new method, The Mobile Majority has unlocked 9 times more Hispanic mobile inventory in these areas for agencies and brands looking to engage with Hispanic consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Of the entire U.S. Hispanic population,\u00a0roughly eighty percent\u00a0live\u00a0in ten states. While using state-wide bid request data would lead to good coverage of this population, the accuracy would suffer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10786\" src=\"https:\/\/www.majority.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/hispanic-population-density.png\" alt=\"Hispanic Population Density\" width=\"723\" height=\"636\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an alternative, The Mobile Majority has created a new data model that uses census-level data cross-referenced with real-time bid requests and our 1st-party data. The result is a much wider recall with very good precision,\u201d said Yongjia Wang PhD, Head of Data Science.<\/p>\n<p class=\"emphasis\">\u201cIn California, for example,\u201d Wang continued, \u201cthere are 85 counties that can be analyzed to identify the most concentrated Hispanic areas in the state.
